From Frontline Forecasting to AI Innovation
My career has been defined by two constants: a passion for meteorology and a drive to master the technology that powers it. This dual focus has taken me from the early days of the web to the frontlines of the National Weather Service, and now to the cutting edge of Artificial Intelligence in our field.
My technical foundation was built during the dot-com boom, where I worked as a programmer and webmaster. That experience taught me to be agile, resourceful, and to see technology not as a tool, but as a solution. When the industry shifted, I seized the opportunity to pursue my lifelong ambition in meteorology.
For 15 years, I served as an operational meteorologist with NOAA's National Weather Service. My career took me from one of the world's most challenging forecast environments in Alaska to leading teams as a Senior Forecaster. In that role, I was responsible for making high-stakes decisions under immense pressure, communicating complex forecast uncertainty to the public, and leading my team through severe weather events where every second counted. My leadership philosophy was forged in those moments: stay composed, communicate with clarity, and remain relentlessly mission-focused.
Today, I channel that unique blend of operational, technical, and leadership experience into Charles Bell AI, LLC. I saw the transformative potential of AI to revolutionize meteorology and founded my company to help organizations navigate this new frontier. My work is dedicated to making AI understandable and empowering the next generation of leaders in our field through world-class training and development.
